Chelsea Apt #1

In Progress

The apartment’s current layout feels out of proportion with its high ceiling and small living space. The mezzanine storage area above the kitchen has a ceiling height low enough that it becomes unusable, and the existing stair imposes itself into the living room.

By relocating the kitchen to the opposite wall, physically shifting half of the mezzanine area to make an office, integrating the mezzanine stair into the entry stair, and creating a partial height divider between the bedroom and living room, we created a more functional and daylight-filled, open space.

The wall between the bedroom and living area has been removed which provides a better balance to the apartment and allows for more natural light. Separating the two areas stands a freestanding wardrobe with panels that can close off the space when desired.
